Future Anthromes

From the creators: Anthromes are the global ecological patterns created and sustained by direct human interactions with ecosystems. Also known as “human biomes”, anthromes are “anthropogenic biomes”, a term coined in a 2008 publication by Erle Ellis and Navin Ramankutty. Their site is the home page for all anthromes work produced by Erle Ellis and collaborators since 2008 (https://anthroecology.org/anthromes/).

We have taken it a step further not only by looking of how anthromes have developed over the past (Ellis et al., 2010, 2020, see Publications) but also by investigating the trend in anthromes into the future. Work from W. van der Wielen (2021) included the Shared Socioeconomic Pathways (SSPs) while L. Yin has been working on heat stress effects on different anthromes under different SSPs (Yin, 2022).
